Off to Grandma's House

Recently my grandmother moved into a retirement home. Now her house is sold. While driving to one of our many parties this weekend I was thinking about all the memories not only I have had there, but my mom who lived in that house her entire life.
I will always remember going to grandmas's house every wednesday after school on the bus (i left quite a few library books on those bus rides), or sleeping over on tuesday nights in the summer time. We used to walk to the Mall and meet my cousin for lunch, walk (or take the bus) to his house and I would help him do his paper route. My payment? Ice cream at Jumbos (I think that's what it was called before Easterbrookes).
We (my brother and I) would go to the "store across the street" as we'd call it, and get our share of 5 cent candies. And some time we'd get candy for free because the owners got to know us over the many many years! That house has seen a million people go in and out it through out the 50 something years my grandmother has had it. I think just about every cousin of my mom's lived there at one point of her life. The house was NEVER empty. We used to roast hot dogs and marshmallows on an old school bbq (you know the one that was small and had a grill and no propane?). I have a scar on my arm from a spark that came out and bit me :)
I am not the type of person to show my true feelings, but I am sad this part of my life is gone. As Phil always says, "it's just bricks and four walls, it's the memories inside that are important". It's sad that the house will be gone soon, but Phil is right (shhhh don't EVER tell him I said that, ha ha ha) I will always have the memories.
Grandma's house, you will always be remembered and never forgotten :(
